Meet Jessica Rolph

Posted on June 01 2018

Mom To:

Beatrice (3), Thacher (5) and Leland (7)

Profession:

Cofounder and CEO of Lovevery, a company that gives parents confidence and peace of mind knowing they are giving their little ones just what they need at each stage of development.

What has been the best part of motherhood thus far?

Lying on the floor while my 2 year old doctor gives me a checkup…playing monster fort in the basement and “dragons are coming”! in the bed. And the best part is getting cozy and reading books with my kids. My favorite is when they all 3 crowd around and listen. Even my oldest still loves to be read to, and will be interested in almost any book.

What has been the most challenging part of motherhood?

For me, (positive) disciplining my kids and always setting clear, consistent boundaries. I have a hard time knowing how to make the right call. There is a split second when I have to make a decision, when my child is doing something that might be OK... but might not...??? It seems clear to other parents, including my husband, but not me :(

How do you balance work and family?

Balance is so elusive. I think the hardest part is balancing living your life purpose to the fullest, being a mom to little people -- feeling like you are present enough to this longest, shortest chapter in your life -- AND being a good friend and feeling a part of a community, AND taking care of yourself, AND being a good daughter, sister, granddaughter… oh yeah, AND being a wife and sustaining a lifelong partnership that gets deeper and more meaningful every year. I need some tips for this!

Where is your happy place?

My favorite moments are the times when my family can just BE together, and I’m not distracted by my phone and all the to-dos.

What do you do for me time?

Me time is hard to come by, as it is for so many of us. I do love indulging in Kombucha & dark chocolate, I’m completely addicted to both!

What is the best piece of advice you received about motherhood?

Try to think about what you can let go of, and for me that means an orderly, clutter-free house!

What advice would you pass onto other mothers?

The days are long but the years are short!
