One week in as a mom of 2, how's it going ?
Honestly...it feels like a dream. The love in the house right now is overwhelming (in the best way). The only thing I’m still aching for now is more time. I’d love to spend as many minutes playing with my toddler as I’m currently spending feeding my newborn. But we’ve figured out how to cuddle as a family while I breastfeed, and that has been the best part of every day!
As Head of Sales and Brand Partnerships for Coveteur can you tell us about your personal experience balancing work and motherhood?
Throughout the pandemic, it’s definitely been a learning process. Some days, I feel like I have it all figured out. The time management flows from one zoom to an easy nap time schedule. Other days, it’s honestly a wild circus and I feel like I’m not dedicating enough time to either. But one thing that I’ve started doing is setting a limit on hours. At 6pm, I put my computer away...even if it’s only for a few hours. No matter what’s going on in media at the time, spending quality time & putting my pookies to bed will come first.
We're forever looking towards other moms for advice, we'd love to hear yours.
It’s 2021 and “perfection” is so cancelled. It’s important to ask for help when you need it. Call out to a spouse, partner, caretaker, friend, parent. When you need another set of hands, it doesn’t make you a bad parent. Making sure you get the support you need to get it all done unscathed actually makes you a great parent.
What are you working on improving about yourself as a woman and mother?
I need to work on my patience. I’m so grateful for incredibly easy children and a wonderfully supportive husband but any sort of action that falls into tantrum category or steps outside the routine also throws me off. And lately with pregnancy & postpartum hormones, I have a very short fuse. I’m trying to take Daniel Tiger’s advice and count to 4 before reacting these days....
